Concert Guitarist


Carlos Groisman's diverse musical activities: a concert guitarist, either as soloist or in chamber groups, and a Music Tutor in educational institutions, have shown outstanding professional characteristics. He was born in Buenos Aires in 1956. He began his guitar studies with María Rosa Alonso, and carried out specialization courses with Horacio Ceballos, Miguel Angel Girollet, and the Uruguayan Eduardo Fernandez.
His public appearances began in 1980, due to numerous prizes obtained in national and prestigious competitions: Promociones Musicales de Buenos Aires, Asociación Estímulo Cultural, Concurso “Heitor Villa-Lobos” de la Embajada de Brasil (being one of the 3 finalists among 81 participants), V Concurso “María Luisa Anido”, III Concurso Nacional de San Lorenzo (Pcia. de Santa Fé). He also won the First Prize of String Instruments of the XI Selección Nacional de Jóvenes Intérpretes Ciudad de Mar Del Plata.
Highly interested in symphonic repertoire and in chamber music, he played, as soloist with several Symphonic and Chamber Orchestras, Joaquin Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez and Concierto Andaluz, Mario Castelnuovo-Tedesco ‘s Concierto en Re, Mauro Giuliani’s Concierto n°1 opus 30 and Concierto n° 3 opus 70, and Antonio Vivaldi’s Conciertos en Re Mayor and La mayor, under the direction of Juan Carlos Zorzi, Ljerko Spiller, Carlos Calleja, Guillermo Becerra, Mario Benzecry and others.
In Europe, he gave recitals in Rome, Paris, Madrid, Peruggia, Athens, Dublin, Brussels, Amsterdam, Stockholm, Essen, Düsseldorf and others. In the U.S, New York, Washington DC, Minneapolis and others. Also in the main auditoriums of the city of Buenos Aires (Teatro Colón, Teatro Alvear, Teatro San Martin, etc) and in several cities of Entre Ríos, Corrientes, Misiones, Santa Fé, La Pampa, Río Negro, Neuquén and Chubut.
He belongs to the celebrated Trio de Guitarras de Buenos Aires since its beginning in 1993. He recorded two CDs with the group for the collection Guitare Plus of the Harmonia Mundi /France record company, broadly recognized by the European critic, and two CDs for the Discoplay record company of Madrid.
In April 2000 he records in Buenos Aires a CD called “Compositores de Latinoamérica en la guitarra”. The Diario Página 12, Buenos Aires, wrote: “... Carlos Groisman is one of the most outstanding guitar soloists in Argentina. In his record Compositores de Latinoamérica plays an extremely attractive repertoire....”
In July 2002 he records the CD “La Guitarra del Siglo XIX” He performs classical and romantic authors in an old string instrument.
In July 2003 he records the CD “Clásicos Argentinos” (Argentinian Classics) where he plays the most important argentinian composers.
